7 Tips When Creating a Business or Organization Logo

Updated: Feb 6, 2023

Creating a logo for any organization can seem like a daunting task, but all your time and effort can result in a successful, memorable and consistent brand. Once you have a finalized logo, your next step would be to get that awesome logo screen printed on t-shirts and apparel! Screen printing is the ultimate marketing tool to spread brand awareness and add flair, plus professionalism to your company’s apparel.

  1. Keep it simple: Your logo should be easy to read, identify and remember. Avoid using too many colors, shapes, and fonts.

  2. Make it timeless: Your logo should stand the test of time and not become outdated quickly. Consider avoiding current trends and focus on a timeless design.

  3. Consider scalability: Your logo should look just as good on a billboard as it does on a business card and on a t-shirt. Make sure that it can be scaled up and down without losing its quality or clarity.

4. Use colors wisely and consider color psychology: Use colors that are appropriate for your industry and send the right message to your target audience. In marketing and branding, color psychology is focused on how colors impact consumers' impressions of a brand and whether or not they persuade consumers to consider brands or make a purchase. Look into color psychology and define what your business is trying to communicate to your audience.

5. Research the competition: Research what other companies in your industry have done with their logos. This will help you create something unique and different from your competitors.

6. Create a guideline for your brand and stay consistent: Once your logo is finalized and you are happy with the final design create a “Brand Guideline”. Brand guidelines are clearly defined rules and standards that communicate how your brand should be represented. Having guidelines will help your business ensure consistency and demonstrate what the company is, what it does, and what it stands for. When printing any item with your logo, ensure it stays the same and follows your final guidelines.

7. Save your logos in different formats: Be sure to have your final logo exported in a variety of formats which can be used when screen printing your t-shirts, ordering your business cards, building your website etc. For screen printing, the best format to have your logo in is PDF or EPS. If you are having an outside graphic designer create your final logo, have them send you a ZIP file with all the file formats (AI/EPS, PDF, PNG, JPEG).

At New City Screen Printing, we can use your PDF or EPS file to promptly send you a digital proof of your apparel/t-shirt order for your approval. Having your design prepared and ready can speed up the process of getting your custom t-shirts faster in your hands. Fill out a form quote request form here or contact us today to get a quote!
